The Miles Baby

Tomorrow, Monday August 13th, Ethan will undergo the first of three surgeries. This initial surgery, known as the Norwood procedure will  allow the right ventricle to pump blood to both the lungs and the body.

 

Prayer for the surgeons - Dr. Mill and Dr. Stuart (Praise that UNC now has 2 surgeoins who can work together on this operation!)

 

Pray that the Lord guides their hands through this delicate procedure.

 

Prayer for the surgical nurses and the nurses in the PICU who will care for Ethan before and after surgery.

 

Pray that the surgery goes quickly. Ethan will be on a bypass machine for part of the time and the less time he spends on that the better!

 

Pray for Dan, Julie and their families during this difficult time.

Update - Julie's heart rate is spiking and doctors do not know the cause. Pray that her heart rate decreases and that her labor speeds up so we can have a safe delivery for mama and baby!

 

August 9th -Julie will be admitted into the hospital to begin the induction process for a August 10th delivery.  It is crucial that he is born so that his surgery date will not fall on a weekend.  Be in prayer as this time approaches that Julie's amniotic fluid levels stay stable so they will not have to deliver early. 

 

They will continue having weekly OB appointments every Tuesday until delivery time. So be in prayer for those.

 

 

Prayer for Dr. Kim Boggess, Julie's obstetrician.

Praise God that this was identified early - giving Dan and Julie time to prepare and helping doctors to provide the best possible care.

Praise that Dr. Cotton (pediatric cardiologist) was patient, honest and encouraging. That he was willing to answer questions and work with Dan & Julie to find out what the best course of action is.

Praise God that His hand is on this baby and the family as this pregnancy progresses. Psalm 139:13-14 -For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Praise God that he is mighty and powerful. That he is stronger than any medical problem. Matthew 19:26 Jesus said to them, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

Prayer that the baby's left mitral valve continues developing.

Prayer that the baby's other organs continue to grow strong and healthy.

Prayer that the insurance covers the necessary test and procedures.

Prayer for Julie to be safe and healthy throughout the rest of the pregnancy and delivery.

Prayer for wisdom, patience and precision for Dr. Mill and Dr. Stewart who will perform the baby's first surgery. What a blessing that there are now 2 skilled surgeons who can work together to ensure that Ethan's every need is met during the surgery.

Prayer for wisdom and compassion for the team who will care for Julie and the baby.

Prayer that God might use this in a mighty way!
